Challenging the Guidelines
There is a rebuttable presumption that the
amount of support provided by the guidelines, regardless of the custody
arrangement, is the correct amount. Yet either parent can challenge that
amount, if it would be unfair to a parent or the child. Only a court can
approve child support different from the guidelines. To order a different
amount, either increased or decreased, a court will consider the following
