Other Expenses and Deductions
Extraordinary expenses are either add-ons, where the expense
is added to the support payment, or deductions, where the amount is deducted,
and indicated as either mandatory or permissive. Childcare and extraordinary
medical expenses are considered mandatory deductions.
Generally, the decision as to which parent is
going to provide medical insurance coverage for the child and how medical bills
will be paid is set out in the marital settlement agreement. If it is not, the
courts may order a parent to provide health insurance coverage for the child.
Usually, if a reasonable medical insurance plan is available through one of the
parent's employment, parents are required to cover their child on it.
