When the TRO is served on a defendant, he or she is legally
required to comply with its provisions immediately. They must obey the order
even if they had no opportunity to dispute the plaintiff's claims in court. And
as we explain below, the TRO may require that the defendant, among other
things, immediately vacate his or her home, and cease all contact with his or
her children.
