The Petitioner is not authorized to serve legal papers. If
service is made in the State of Arizona, the papers must be delivered by a
deputy Sheriff or a person (called a "process server") who is
specially registered with the court to serve legal documents. The Sheriff and
the process server charge a fee for performing this task (these fees vary from
county to county and the Sheriff and the process server do not necessarily
charge the same price). A person may apply to the court for deferral or waiver
of the fee charged by the Sheriff, but not by a process server.
