One copy must be served by mailing it to the Petitioner. The Respondent keeps the other copy. A filing fee of $126 is charged by the clerk. (This amount is set by state law. There may be local laws that add amounts to this basic fee. For example, in Maricopa County an additional $20 is charged.) The Respondent can ask the court to postpone ("defer") or forgive ("waive") payment by filing a written application with the Clerk of the Superior Court. The court is open Monday through Friday from 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. As with all papers filed in court, the form of the Response must comply with court rules and state laws governing size, spacing and content.
