NEBRASKA Part 62
MEDIATION
Nebraska law now provides that judges can order
parents to attend Mediation in an effort to attempt to come to an agreement on
some or all of the issues in the divorce. Mediation is not ordered for the
purposes of trying to make your marriage work. For example, if you and your
spouse cannot agree on who should have custody of your children, or what the
parenting time schedule should be, the judge might say you need to see a
Mediator. A mediator is a neutral party and most Mediators are specially
trained to help people resolve their disputes. There is usually a cost for
mediation, but Nebraska does have several Mediation Centers that offer services
on a sliding fee scale. To learn more
