NEBRASKA Part 9
Usually some time will go by between your first
meeting with your lawyer and the time the papers are ready. When they are
ready, read them carefully. Make sure all of the things said are correct. Once
everything is correct, you will sign the Complaint before a Notary Public. This
means that you are swearing that everything said in the Complaint is true. Make
sure that it is! After you sign the divorce papers, your lawyer will file them
at the courthouse. Upon filing, your case will be given a number. This number will
appear on your court file and on all the papers filed from that point forward.
The person filing the Complaint is called the “Plaintiff”. The other spouse is
called the “Defendant”.
