NEVADA Part 34

What happens if we have joint custody?  Can I still get child support?

If the parties have joint custody, the statutory guidelines are slightly modified.  The court uses a balancing calculation between the parties.  If there is one child, the court will look at mom’s 18% of her gross monthly income versus dad’s 18% of his gross monthly income.  The difference will go to the low income parent.  For example, if 18% of dad’s gross monthly income is $500, while mom’s is $300, then mom will be awarded a child support payment of $200 per month.

This, obviously, becomes complicated if there are multiple children and varying custody arrangements between the children.
