You must also have a reason, as with any divorce to be getting a divorce. These are called no-fault based and fault based grounds for a divorce. A no-fault reason means that neither party is at fault for the marriage ending and that both agree that reconciliation is out of question and both are ready for a divorce. A fault-based means that either one or both parties have caused the marriage to end through adultery, mental cruelty, imprisonment, abandonment, living separate, insanity or confinement to a state mental hospital.
