SOUTH CAROLINA Part 42
The custodial parent (usually the mother) is
required by law to give the name of the child’s father to the South Carolina
Department of Social Services ONLY if she applies for benefits. The Child Support Enforcement
Division will begin legal proceedings in the Family Court to determine the
legal father of the child and establish and enforce child support payments.
