Has a court already issued a proper custody order? If so a
“reallocation” will need to be made”, if not an “allocation” will need to be
made. Essentially, there are 5 situations.
If you are an
unmarried female, and a court has never issued a proper custody order I have
good news. Under Ohio law (ORC 3109.042), you are the “sole residential parent
and legal custodian of the child”. And you didn’t even have to do anything. How
about that? That doesn’t mean the situation cannot change, however.
